As of July 1, 2021, there's new regulations with VAT. Large companies shipping in volume are in a position to hire an agent to continuously represent their shipment interests, stationed in the EU. A small or one person indie shop is unfortunately not. Right now, the only solution I have for this is for me to open up an Aromaleigh Etsy account, and if you are located in the UK or EU, you'd send me a list of the items you want (ideally this would be by generating a pdf file of your shopping cart on the website- I can assist you with this), I'd then make a custom listing on Etsy through which you could purchase that grouping of items. The order would ship through Etsy, and Etsy would handle and generate all associated VAT paperwork and agent representation.
Feel free to comment on that solution!
Here's my original notice from last month:
Shipping to the UK and EU countries is suspended at this time while I figure out new procedures with VAT taxes.
I had no idea about any of this, and Shopify- the store platform through which I generate my shipping labels never gave me notification of the new regulations and how it would impact Aromaleigh and Aromaleigh customers.
I don't send a lot of packages to the EU, so I will need to do some research and figure out if and how I'll be able to continue doing so.
I learned about this on Instagram, after seeing other indie brands make posts about it!
I'm sure the collective community will eventually come to a solution to be able to offer indie products to EU customers again, but right now it looks very complicated, so more research on my part is required.
If you are in the EU and have a better understanding of what is happening and how it's impacting you as a consumer, feel free to comment.
